5Rpf HINDENBURG MEDALLION STAMP
DETAILS: Issued 1933. Broad graduation (three lines) down the centre. P216 differs from P217 below only in the height of the sender section. For P216 this is 21mm high, whereas for P217 it is 24.5mm high, otherwise they are identical. The earliest known cancellation date for P216 is 10th Feb 1933. There are two variations of P216: Type 'I' has a straight edge whilst Type 'II' has a serrated edge.
As well as the official card there were a number of official cards with additional private printing.

This private version of a P216 has additional black printing in the destination section that reads:"Magdeburger | General-Anzeiger | Vertriebsabteilung | Magdeburg".
