SCHLESWIG PLEBISCITE
(14th Mar 1920)
BACKGROUND: On 14th Mar 1920 the people of Schleswig on the borders of Germany and Denmark voted to determine if they would become part of Germany or part of Denmark. To commemorate the event, and to help persuade the voters, there were quite a number of postcards produced.

This postcard is inscribed 'SONDERBURG' which is the German spelling, Sønderborg being the Danish spelling for the town in southern Denmark.
