BACKGROUND: This postcard features a 20Pf pre-printed dienstmarke stamp issued in 1920. The postcard measures 140 x 90mm. The card is described as 'only for Empire and Land authority use' and 'not for use in Prussia, Bavaria or Württemburg'.

The pre-printed stamp is very similar to DP5 only DP2 does not have the number "21" in the two bottom corners.

1. B. Landesstelle für Gewässerkunde, München - This card was produced for the Bavarian State Office for Water and exists in at least two versions as can be seen below.

DOMESTIC USAGE

1. This first DP2 postcard was sent from LANDSHUT on 14th Aug 1922 and destined for BAMBERG. The total postage paid was 1 Mark 50 pfennig.




2. The second card is very similar to the first but was posted almost exactly a month later on 15th Sep 1922. Again the total postage paid was 1 Mark 50 Pfennig although a slightly different combination of stamps has been used.




3. The following domestically used DP2 card was sent from WALDORF O.A TÜBINGEN to REUTLINGEN on 14th MAR 1923. The total postage paid was 139 Marks.
