GOLD GAB ICH ZUR WEHR.
I GAVE GOLD TO DEFEND MYSELF.

This postcard appears to be an attempt to encourage people to give up their gold and valuables in order to donate them to charity to help with the war effort. The inscription reads "GOLD GAB ICH ZUR WEHR. EISEN NAHM ICH ZUR EHR. BRINGT EUREN GOLDSCHMUCK DEN GOLDANKAUFS-STELLEN." - 'I GAVE GOLD TO DEFEND MYSELF. I TOOK IRON TO HONOR. BRING YOUR GOLD JEWELRY TO THE GOLD PURCHASING POINTS.'

The example below was posted in BERLIN on 5th Apr 1917.
