BERLIN STAMP EXHIBITION
(1922)
BACKGROUND: The Berlin Stamp Exhibition was held from 15th to 22nd Oct 1922 and as well as a private envelope there was also a commemorative postcard.
SPECIAL CANCEL:There was a special cancel available inscribed "POSTWERTZEICHEN AUSSTELLUNG | BERLIN | W62" and featuring the same image as the commemorative postcard, that of a naked woman releasing a dove.
PRIVATE ENVELOPE
This privately printed envelope bears the inscription "Postwertzeichen-Ausstellung | zu Berlin 1922". In addition to the inscription the envelope has a pre-printed 4 Mark posthorn stamp.COMMEMORATIVE POSTCARD
BACKGROUND: Published in 1922 and valid for use until 30th Sep 1923. This postcard was issued to commemorate the 1922 Berlin Stamp Exhibition. There was only one design available, but it exists with one of three possible pre-printed value stamps, and five possible variations:PP54-C-1: 1.5 Mark 'mail rider' pre-printed stamp. Only one variation exists
PP62-C-1: 3 Mark 'Posthorn' pre-printed stamp. Two variations exist.
PP63-C-1: 100Pf 'Miners' pre-printed stamp. Two variations exist.
For the PP54-C-1 and PP63-C-1 there are two variations. In each case there is a difference in the distance between the vertical dividing line and the word 'Postkarte'. When buying on-line it is difficult to tell which is which, as most images are not full scale. In this case if you draw a vertical line directly up from the right-hand side of the word 'An' you can easily determine if the card is a PP54-C-1/01 (11.5mm) or a PP54-C-1/02 (8.5mm). Likewise for the P63-C-1/01 and -/02.

1.5 Mark
(MAIL RIDER)
There are two versions of the card with a 1.5 Mark stamp. For the first, PP54-C-1/01, the word "Postkarte" is 11.5mm from the vertical divider and for the second, PP54-C-1/02 the distance is 8.5mm.
PP54-C-1 was the only private printed to order postcard to feature this 1.5 Mark pre-printed stamp (it was however used on several official postcards). This pre-printed stamp was never issued as a regular stamp.
