BACKGROUND: On 20th Apr 1945 three existing Hitler Head definitive stamps were overprinted for use in the KURLAND pocket.
The overprints were applied by the 'Kurzemes vards' (The Word of Kurland) newspaper.

ABOVE LEFT: Mi 3 II - thinner '6' (multiple positions on sheet)
ABOVE CENTRE LEFT: Mi 3 III - upper arc of '6' flattened
ABOVE CENTRE RIGHT: Mi 3 IV - right side of bottom part of '6' flattened
ABOVE RIGHT: Mi 3 V - lower left serif of 'D' in 'KURLAND' missing.

ABOVE LEFT: Mi 3 VI - holes in both overprint squares.
