BACKGROUND: Issued on 1st Oct 1943, this is the first of two identical E.R Vogenauer designed stamps depicting St. George and the Dragon from a jewellery box residing in the "Residence" in Munich. The stamps were printed by the Berlin State Printing Works to commemorate the Goldsmith's Society. There was also an accompanying official postcard.
