BACKGROUND: The 10th Brown Ribbon Race was commemorated with a stamp issued on 27th Jul 1943. Designed by Prof. Klein this stamp was engraved at the State Printing Office in Vienna.

SPECIAL CANCELLATION: There were two special handstamps as well as a special slogan used for this event. The first handstamp was used only on the day of the race, 1st Aug 1943. Earlier in the meeting, on the 25th of Jul a second handstamp was used, again only for the day, to commemorate the 'German Alpine Prize' race.
