BACKGROUND: On 5th Dec 1940 existing Luxemburg issue stamps were overprinted with new 'Rpf' values. The original stamp is a Michel LU 258 that was issued on 30th Aug 1934. The image is the 'Porte des 3 tours' or Gate of Three Towers, built in 11th century and is one of the oldest surviving structures in the city of Luxemburg.
