BACKGROUND: On 5th Dec 1940 existing Luxemburg issue stamps were overprinted with new 'Rpf' values. The original stamp is a Michel LU 189 that was issued on 15th Oct 1927. It was designed by Robert Savage and printed by the American bank Note Co. The image is the Grand Duchess Charlotte (1896-1985).
