INTERNATIONAL AUTOMOBILE/MOTORCYCLE EXHIBITION
(SONDERMARKEN)

BACKGROUND: This special card was produced to commemorate the International Automobile and Motorcyle Exhibition held in Berlin from 17th Feb until 5th Mar 1939. The exhibition was an annual event but 1939 was the only year that saw the issue of special commemorative stamps. These stamps can be seen on this special card (Sondermarken).

line The basic card consists of a piece of stiff cardboard with the following inscriptions on the front side: "Internationale Automobil- und | Mottorad-Ausstellung Berlin 1939", along the top edge and "Sondermarken", along the bottom edge. The card has all three of the special issue stamps and each one is cancelled with the special handstamp used at the exhibition.

VARIATIONS

Since the front of the card is the same for all variations I have shown only the reverse sides below. For the DEUTSCHE BANK variety there are two versions: One with a bank book and the other with a customer at the counter.
