BACKGROUND: This stamp was issued on 12th Jul 1939 to commemorate the 'Day of German Art'. The design depicts a young Venetian woman from a painting by Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528). There was a special handstamp used in Munich as well as a slogan postmark used to accompany the issue of this stamp.
