APPRENTICE'S VOCATIONAL CONTEST

BACKGROUND: Two stamps, a 6Rpf and a 12Rpf, were issued on the 4th Apr 1939 to commemorate the annual Reicsberufswettkmpf. The design, by Meerwald, features the Reich's Adler with outstretched wings holding a cog (symbolising industry) emblazoned with the swastika. Behind the Reich's eagle is a wreath symbolising victory and strength. Despite the name of the event this was not only for apprentices as it also attracted many older competitors.
