BACKGROUND: Michel 655 was part of a series of 9 stamps issued on 4th Nov 1937 to mark the Winter relief Fundraising event of 1937. This stamp was designed by von Axster-HeĆ¼dtlass and was engraved by the state printing works in Berlin. Each stamp in the series features a ship, in this case a Padua (barque).
