BACKGROUND: This series of 26 black and white Verlag HORN postcards was issued to highlight the start of the air war against England.

The heading on the reverse side reads:

""Serie ..."denn wir fahren gegen Engeland". | 26 HORN's Künstpostkarten - eine Erinnerung für's | Leben und historische Dokumente für kommende | Geschlechter".

'Series ... "because we're going against England". | 26 HORN's art postcards - a memory for the | Life and historical documents for coming generations'.

The texts along the vertical divider reads:

"Nr. 1204 Alleiniges / erlagsrecht für Postkarten nur HORN - Verlag | Gotha, gegr 1898 - Nachdruck auch auszugsw. wird strafr. verfolgt"

'No. 1204. HORN - Verlag, founded in Gotha in 1898, has the sole publishing rights for these postcards. Any reprints, including extracts is punishable and will be pursued'.
