'SS' ART
BACKGROUND: This postcard was part of series of cards entitled "Deutsche Künstler und die SS" - 'German Art and the SS'. This work was painted by Albert Henrich and is called 'Ländliches Stillleben' - 'Rural still life' and is very typical of his type of work which featured mainly landscapes, portraits and still life. Henrich was born on 19th Jun 1899 in Düsseldorf and died on 5th May 1971.An exhibition bearing the name "Deutsche Künstler und die SS" was opened in Breslau and this postcard series was used to advertise the event. A 72-page catalogue containing 63 illustrations was available, published by Wilhelm Limpert Verlag. The exhibition featured 589 exhibits from both professional as well as amateur artists.
This postcard was published by Friedrich Franz Bauer G.m.b.H of Berlin and is numbered Nr. 9410.
