(12th Feb 1939)

BACKGROUND: This card, designed by the graphic artist Mjölnir (real name Hans Herbert Schweitzer), features a Reich's Adler (Empire Eagle), the symbol of the German Red Cross behind a line of nurses gazing steadfastly into the future. The inscription reads "für das Deutsche Rote Kreuz gezeichnet von Professor h. Schweitzer" - 'Drawn for the German Red Cross by Professor h. Schweitzer'.

The reverse of the card has the inscription "das Deutsche Rotekreuz. herausgegeben vom Presse und Werbeamt des DRK" - ' the German Red Cross. Published by the press and advertising office of the DRK'. The example below also features the special cancellation used in Vienna.
