GREATER GERMANY
(11th May 1939)
BACKGROUND: This postcard was published by "Verlag Die Wehrmacht GMBH of Berlin" and is a propaganda message showing how much Germany has grown since the advent of the Nazi government in 1933. As well as Germany itself, the postcard shows the acquisition of the Sudetenland (renamed BÖHMEN and MÄHREN), Austria and the industrial region of the Ruhr. The title of the country has also changed from 'Germany' in 1933 to 'Greater Germany' in 1939, although the words "GROSS DEUTSCHES REICH" did not appear on any stamps until Michel 862 in Oct 1943.
