BUDWEIS NSDAP DAY
(4th Jun 1939)

BACKGROUND: Issued to commemorate the District Day of the NSDAP in Budweis on 4th Jun 1939. The artists impression shows the Market Square and the Black Tower, but neglects to show the 1887 Jewish Synagogue, that was destroyed by the Nazi's in 1942.

Budweis is located in the region of Bohemia and Moravia and by the time of this postcard it was occupied by the German Army after Germany annexed the Sudetenland and then the rest of Czechoslovakia. Theresienstadt, the infamous Gestapo controlled concentration camp, was located just outside the city.
