TAG DER BRIEFMARKE
THE DAY OF THE STAMP
(9th/10th Jan 1937)
BACKGROUND: This postcard was issued to commemorate 'Tag der Briefmarke' or 'The Day of the Stamp' 1937. The card depicts two different halves of the world with an envelope between them, and 4 arrows emanating outwards.
There are two main versions of this card:
PP122-C-35 where the text is in German and
PP122-C-36 where the text is in French.
SPECIAL CANCEL: Special cancels were available in 14 towns and cities, and all 14 types have the same image of an envelope and a post horn, along with the date "10.1.1937". The list of towns and cities to collect is as follows:

In addition to these 14 common cancels there were a few variations on the theme e.g., CHEMNITZ, HAMBURG and STUTTART (see below).
PP122-C-35
GERMAN LANGUAGE VERSION
TAG DER BRIEFMARKE
The German text version of the card has two distinct variants and one minor variant. PP122-C-35/01 can be differentiated from PP122-C-35/02 as the /01 has three dotted lines in the destination section, whereas the /02 has four dotted lines.

PP122-C-35/03 has the same design as PP122-C-35/02 above but now with additional text on the reverse which translates as:

The text on the reverse side translates as:
"THE ALBUM FOR POSTAL STAMPS AND CANCELS
Was improved and expanded during the preparation, so that
its value has increased considerably. In the interest of all collectors,
we would therefore like to remind you that the closing date for the
SPECIAL PRICE OF 10, -RM will be December 10, 1936.
Orders received after this day can only be carried out
at the usual sales price of 11.50 RM. Advance payment
to my Postcheckonto Bln 19341 or cash on delivery. The delivery
takes place in the first days of December. Picture brochures are still available
on request.

PP122-C-36
FRENCH LANGUAGE VERSION
JOURNÉE DU TIMBRE
Unlike the German language version PP122-C-35, there are three versions of the French language card. PP122-C-36/01 is on cream coloured card stock and PP122-C-36-02 was on white coloured card stock. For PP122-C-36/03 the difference is in the shape of the "3" in "1937". All other versions have a vey angular "3", whereas PP122-C-36/03 has a much more rounded "3".
The French text on all three cards reads:
"Au cors de son 11 eme Congrès
à Luxembourg,
la Fédération Internationale
de Philatélie a décidé
d'organiser une
"Journée Philatelique" par tous
les pays affiliés, le premier
dimanche après le 7 Janvier."
'During its 11th Congress
in Luxembourg,
the International Federation
of Philately decided
to organize a
"Philatelic Day" for all
affiliated countries on the first
Sunday after January 7th.'

In addition to the rounded "3" there is no white border around the '1937' whereas there is a white border on the /01 and /02 and the /03 has four dotted lines in the destination address section, but the /01 and /02 both have only three dotted lines.
OTHER VERSIONS
FORST STAMP EXHIBITION
(PP122-C-41)
The German version of this card was also used at the First Stamp Exhibition held in Forst from the 9th to 11th Jan 1937 and it is based on the PP122-C-35/02 version with 4 dotted destination address lines. In additional there are four lines of text on the reverse that reads:
"Erste Briefmarkenschau
des postwertzeichen-Sammler-Vereins Forst (Lausitz)
vom 9. bis 11. Januar 1937 im Ratsfaal des Rathauses
zu Forst (Lausitz)"
'First stamp show
of the postage stamp collectors association Forst (Lausitz)
from 9th to 11th January 1937 in the council chamber of the town hall
to Forst (Lausitz)'

2. BRIEFMARKEN WERBESCHAU
PP122-C-43
(10th Jan 1937)
Published to commemorate the 2nd postal exhibition of the BSV Centrum held at the Berlin Zoo on 10th Jan 1937. This is the same design as P122-C-35/02 but the reverse side features text in a boomerang shape with the title "2. Briefmarken Werbeschau", 3 more lines of text and the R.d.P logo.

DOMESTIC USAGE
The first two domestically used cards below are both PP122-C-35/02 cards and were cancelled with the speical 'Tag der Briefmarke' cancels used in ASCHERSLABEN and BERLIN respectively.The next two cards were also used domestically. The card on the right has the 'Tag der Briefmarke' special cancel used in HAMBURG, whereas the card on the left has a special cancellation related to Hitler's 48th Birthday from MUNICH.
Below is another example of a PP122-C-35/02 card, this one cancelled with the BERLIN version of the 'Tag der Briefmarke' Sonderstempel.
The next card was a local delivery in the city of GÖSNITZ cancelled on 10th Jan 1937. Since this was a local delivery the additional 5Rpf Airmail stamp was not required. Note the sender has indicated that the postal date was 5th Jan 1936 which is incorrect and should have been 5th Jan 1937.
PP122-C-35/03 ALBUM TEXT
The domestically used PP122-C-35/03 card below has an unrelated special cancellation inscribed "BERLIN NW40 | Kontinentaler Reklamekongress 24.-28.November 1936" - 'BERLIN NW40 | Continental Advertising Congress November 24-28, 1936'.FOREIGN USAGE
