INT BRIEFMARKEN SCHAU - BAD-NAUHEIM
INTERNATIONAL STAMP SHOW - BAD-NAUHEIM
(2nd/5th Sep 1937)
BACKGROUND: These two distinctly different postcards were published to commemorate the International Postage Stamp Show held in Bad Nauheim between 2nd and 5th Sep 1937. Both postcards have a pre-printed 3Rf Hindenburg Medallion stamp but are otherwise very different in design. The first card PP122-C-57-01 depicts a fountain surrounded by lions. The second card PP122-C-57-02 has a hand drawn fountain and exists in two variations. For PP122-C-57-02 the words 'BAD NAUHEIM' are in dark red and for PP122-C-57-03 they are in orange, otherwise they are identical.
Both of these cards were re-used to commemorate the 1938 The Day of the Stamp and the 2nd Postal Exhibition of the B.S.V in Bad Nauheim. The designs are the same except for the addition of an image and text around the value stamp.
Bad Nauheim is a small town located in the German state of Hesse, about 25Km North of Frankfurt Am Main. It is well known as a spa town and the fountain depicted on these postcards is the fountain located in the historic spa gardens.
