BACKGROUND: This postcard was published to commemorate the annual Gordon Bennett Balloon Race held in Chemnizt on 27th Mar 1937. There are two version, both exactly the same design except that PP127-E-5 has a 6Rpf Hindenburg Medallion pre-printed stamp and the other has no pre-printed stamp.

SPECIAL CANCEL: There was a special cancel inscribed "CHEMNITZ-SÜDKAMPFBAHN | AUSSCHEIDUNGS-FAHRT | GORDON-BENNETT".
