OFFICIAL POSTCARD
GERMAN COLLECTORS' COMMUNITY

Issued 1st Sep 1937 by the German Collectors' Community in support of the Strength Through Joy Organisation to commemorate the "Collecting on Christmas Eve" Exhibition held from 3rd to 5th Sep 1937 at the BERLIN zoo. The card features a 5 Rpf Airmail stamp and the reverse side of the card is blank. The cards were availbale from the Exhibition, and also from postal agencies from 1st to 10th Sep 1937 for 20 Rpf. The additional 15 Rpf from the sale of these cards was a donation to the German Collector's Association.

VALIDITY: Valid for use from 1st Sep 1937 until 31st Dec 1938. Cards can be found cancelled prior to the First Day of Issue and certainly from 3rd Aug 1937.

1. Cancelled in GOPINGEN on 4th Sep 1937 this example was sent to a R.A.D address in GRENZMARK.

2. The following domestic long distance example was cancelled in SOLTAU on 04.09.1937 and was destined for CHEMNITZ. To cover the extra postage a 1 Rpf Hindenburg Medallion self adhesive stamp has been added.

SPECIAL SLOGAN CANCELS

1. This domestically used P245 postcard was cancelled in NÜRBERG during the 1937 Reichsparteitag held from 6th to 13th Sep. This card has the special cancellation used to commemorate the rally and was sent to KIEL.

2. The next domestically used card was sent from BERLIN to a collector in ALTENBURG on 5th Sep 1937. The front of the card has a special handstamp used in BERLIN to commemorate the K.d.F GERMAN COLLECTOR'S COMMUNITY EXHIBITION held in BERLIN from 3rd to 5th Sep 1937, the same event that the card was issued to advertise. There were eight variants of this special cancel used from 5th to 7th Sep, with counters 'a' through 'h', and this particular example has all of them except for the 'h'.
