CELEBRATING THE 5th YEAR IN POWER

BACKGROUND: There were several postcards published to commemorate the start of the 5th year in power for the Nazi's. Below are a few examples of what was on offer.

SPECIAL CANCEL: Surprisingly there was no special cancel available to mark the event.

DAS 5. JAHR - SIEGEN ARBEITEN WEITERMARSCHIEREN
THE 5TH YEAR - VICTORY, WORK ON, MARCH
(30th Jan 1937)

This postcard was published to commemorate the beginning of the 5th year since the seizure of Power by the Nazi Party (30th Jan 1933). The image features a farmer, flanked by two SA storm troopers, indicating unity with the working class.

DAS 5. JAHR - SIEGEN ARBEITEN WEITERMARSCHIEREN
THE 5TH YEAR - VICTORY, WORK ON, MARCH
(30th Jan 1937)

The second card published to commemorate the anniversary is entitled "1933 Das 5 Jahr 1937". This card depicts a blacksmith making a sickle with industrial buildings and a 'V' formation of aircraft in the distance. The lower edge of the card has the inscription "Arbeit - Freiheit - Ehre - Frieden" - 'Work - freedom - honor - peace'.

HONOUR AND WORK

This postcard was published by Vereinigte Kunstanstalten AG, Kaufbeuren (Bayern) to commemorate four years of productivity and progress. The inscription reads "Unser neues Deutschland heiβt: Ehre und Arbeit" - 'Our new Germany is called: Honour and Work'.
