OPENING OF THE REICHSTAG - POTSDAM
(Mar/Apr 1933)
In addition to the official P248 postcard there were numerous other postcards issued to mark this occasion. This first card shows Hitler and Hindenburg sharing a ride.
The following card shows von Hindenburg walking past ranks of Nazi SA supporters.
This postcard shows Adolf Hitler bowing to Hindenburg during the ceremony at the Garnifon Church in Potsdam and the front shows the postcard is Nr 173 from the Rex-Verlag printers in Potsdam.
Another set of cards was published by 'Kunstverlag Wentz & Co. G.M.B.H.'' in Berlin, and two examples can be seen below. The first card is inscribed "zur Erinnerung an die feierliche Eroffnungsfitzung des 'Deutschen Reichstages' welche am 21. Marz 1933 in er Garnifonkirche zu Potsdam stattfand" - translated as "To commemorate the opening session of the German Reichstag on March 21, 1933 in the Garnifon Church in Potsdam."
The second card has a shorter, simpler inscription "Der Deutsche Reichstag tag in der Krolloper zu Berlin" - 'The German Reichstag meets in the Kroll Opera House in Berlin'. The Kroll Opera House in the Teirgarten district of Berlin, served as the assembly hall of the German Reichstag (parliament) from 1933 until 1942.
