PP93-C-1 and PP94-C-1
MOPHILA, HAMBURG
(22nd/30th Aug 1931)

BACKGROUND: This commercial postcard (PP93-C-1) and an identical double-card (PP94-C-1) both have 10Rpf LUFTPOST and 3Rpf EBERT pre-printed stamps. The inscription on the front reads "LUFTPOST | MOPHILA HAMBURG 1931". On the reverse side is an image of a Catapult launch from on-board the express steamer "Europa". The inscription below the image reads "Sieger-Neuhelten-Dienst führend für Luftpost und Zeppelinpost." - 'Sieger Neuhelten service, the leading service for Airmail and Zeppelin mail.'.

SONDERSTEMPEL: A special handstamp was available inscribed "HAMBURG 36 | MOPHILA | LUFTPOST | 1931". This handstamp was used from 22nd to 30th Aug 1931.

PP93-C-1
POSTCARD

The postcards were originally printed as double cards, then for some reason were cut in half to form two identical postcards. Almost all of the known examples were divided in this way, so complete double card are very rare. The postcards exists in two variants:

PP93-C-1/01: With inscription below the image of the catapult launch
PP93-C-1/02: With a solid black bar below the image and no inscription.

PP94-C-1
DOUBLE-CARD

The double card is identical to the postcard (with inscription) and there is no specific message or answer portion, the are both identical.
