GEHANNSTAG KIRCHHEIMBOLANDEN
St. JOHN's DAY in KIRCHHEIMBOLANDEN

BACKGROUND: Issued to commemorate St. John's Day in Kirchheimbolanden on 27th Jun 1926. The event was the brainchild of Heinrich Engel, a teacher at the Kirchheimbolanden Progygymnasium and chairman of the Kirchheimbolanden Tourist Association. The festival was held in 1926, 1927 and 1928 under the slogan "The Four Seasoons", "The Year in the Life of the North Palatinate People" and "Under the Sign of the Freischaren" rspectively. The festivities includeded a 2-hour paradeand fair as well as a dance on the Schillerhain.

Engel was transferred in 1929 and the event was not helpd again until 1951. You can find more information at this website.
