OFFICIAL REPLYCARD

Issued 1900. Without any control codes, ie no publisher's mark, no watermark, and without gaps in the dotted destination address lines.

The Message side has 'Deutsche Reichspost | Postkarte' in the centre of the card. 'An' is all the way to the left and 'In' is between the 'An' and 'Postkarte'. On the bottom left is the inscription "Die Angebogene | Karte ist für die | Antwort | bestimmt.". Note the "K" of "Karte" is closed unlike P55 and P56 where the "K" is open.

The Answer side is the same design except for the inscription '(Antwort)' is added below 'Postkarte' and the "Die Angebogene | Karte ist für die | Antwort | bestimmt." inscription is no longer present.

As well as the official postcard there were many other versions published with private printing, some of which can be seen below.

2. The following example was sponsored by a book trader in BERLIN named Verlagsbuchhandlung Paul Paren". This card was cancelled in BERLIN S.W on 21st Oct 1901 and arrived in HAMBURG the following day.

BRAUNSCHWEIG

1: The message portion of the card below indicates it was sent to an address in ALLENSTEIN on 3rd Jul 1901. The return or Answer address is to a "Herr Wilh Brand" of BRAUNSCHWEIG, but it was never returned to him.

WANDSBEK

1: Private P54 reply card sponsored by "die Direktion der | Kakao-Compagnie Theodor Reichardt | G.m.b.H | Wandsbek". This postally used example was cancelled in WANDSBEK on 5th Feb 1902 and was sent to CÖLN where it arrived the following day.
