OFFICIAL POSTAL STATIONERY
WITH PRIVATE ADDITIONAL PRINTS
There are quite a number of official P18 postcards with additional private printing and below is a selection of what can be found.

HERRN AUG. HAMMERSCHLAG
P18-I: There were multiple versions of this card with a destination "Herrn Aug. Hammerschlag | Cigarren-Fabriken | BREMEN", a cigar manufacturer in Bremen. The reverse side has areas to place your order as well as an area to provide the shipping details.
1. This first example has a printer's control date of 687 and control gap at position L15 on the 4th dotted address line.

2. The next example has a print control date of 587 and control gap at position L15 on the 4th dotted address line. This is the only example that I have seen with a horizontally aligned table on the reverse side.

3. This third example has a revised destination of 'die Firma' rather than 'Herrn' Aug Hammerslag on the other cards. The reverse side is very similar to the first card and the print control date is now '389' but due to the overprint "BREMEN" the gap in the 4th dotted address line cannot be seen

4. The following card was also sponsored by "die Firma | Aug. Hammerschlag | Cigarren-Fabriken | BREMEN" and has a print control date of 589 with a gap in the 4th dotted addess line at R5.

5. The next P18-I card was also sponsored by "die Firma | Aug. Hammerschlag | Cigarren-Fabriken | BREMEN" and has a print control date of 888 with a gap in the 4th dotted addess line at L5.

6. The next P18-I card was also sponsored by "die Firma | Aug. Hammerschlag | Cigarren-Fabriken | BREMEN" and has a print control date of 888 with a gap in the 4th dotted addess line at L10.

GEEHRTER HERR !
2. The privately sponsored P18-I card has a print control date of '888' and a gap at L20 in the 4th dotted address line. The sponsor of the card is unknown but it was used by a school to advise a firm's owner of their apprentice's lateness arriving in class. The message when translated is quite amusing.the text on the reverse side reads "Berlin, den ....... 188 | Geehrter Herr! | Ihr Lehring ....., Schüler der ...... städtischen Fortbildungs-Schule, hat den Unterricht | im .......... am ..........., | ohne sich zu entschuldigen, versämpt. | Ich bitte Sie freundlichst, dahin zu wirken, dass derselbe die Lehr- | stunden von jetzt ab regelmässig besucht. | Actungsvoll | ............. | Rektor"
'Berlin, ....... 188 | Dear Sir! | Your apprentice ....., a student at the ...... municipal advanced training school, has the lesson | in .......... on ..........., | and was late without apologizing. | I kindly ask you to work to ensure that your apprentice arrives on time for class from now on. | Actful | ............. | Rector'
