MARINE PICTURE SERVICE

The following set of artist's postcards (probably 12 in number) is titled Marine Bilderdienst. The full text reads: Motiv aus dem "Marine-Bilderdienst", herausgegeben mit Unterstützung des Oberkommandos der Kriegsmarine nach einem Gemälde von Ockar Dolhart, Berlin. Alle Rechte vorbehalten. Wilhelm Limpert, Druck- und Verlagshaus, Berlin SW 68.

The cards were almost certainly published in late 1941 or early 1942.

The first card in this series is titled: "Schnellbootangriff auf Geleitzug an der englischen Küste. Vernichtung eines Begleitzerstörers in der Dämmerung." - 'S-boat attack on convoy on the English coast. Destruction of an escort destroyer at dusk.'

The third card in the seris is titled: "Sperrbrecher durchbricht ein Minenfeld. Er ist mit besonderen Schutzeinrichtungen gegen Minentreffer ausgerüstet." or 'A mine sweeper breaks through a minefield. It is equipped with special protective devices against mine hits.'

GERMAN BATTLESHIPS SINK 22 SHIPS

The sixth card in the series has the inscription "Deutsche Schlachtschiffe versenken im März 1941 im Nordatlantik 22 schiffe (116 000 BRT.) und retteten 800 Uberlebende." - 'In March 1941, German battleships sank 22 ships (116,000 GRT) in the North Atlantic and rescued 800 survivors.'.

NIGHT BATTLE

This card is titled "Nachtgefecht deutscher und englischer Zerstöre: an der Südküste Englands." or 'Night battle between German and English destroyers: on the south coast of England.' This particular example was a FELDPOST cancellation in HOF (SAALE) on 12th Apr 1943. More research required on Feldpost number AG167C.
