"DER URKORNISCHE"
(THE ORIGINAL)

This series of six postcards take a humorous look at the life of a new recruit in the German Army. The artist was Rudolf Mälzer (1881-1937) a German folk singer and comedian in Leipzig. The series was probably published in 1914 or 1915 (the two dated cards in my collection were cancelled in Aug 1915).

The cards were published by Verlag R and KL of Hanover, a prolific publisher of this type of sentimentally thermed postcards in the early 1900's.
