BACKGROUND: Card 35-53-1-B9 was issued in Apr 1934 and features an image of St. Bartholomä am Königssee in Berchtesgaden. St. Bartholomä, formerly St. Bartholomäus, is the name of a Roman Catholic pilgrimage church on the western shore of Lake Königssee on the Hirschau peninsula as well as a very small settlement in the vicinity of the church, which is a part of the municipality of Schönau am Königssee in the Upper Bavarian district of Berchtesgadener Land. The card is inscribed as follows:

1. The postally used example below was posted in LEIPZIG on 02.03.1935. The violet stamp on the reverse side reads "Julius Bochmann | Cainsdorf (b. Zwickau. 8a)". Julius Bochmann was the creator and author of the indispensable "Katalog der Deutschen Gelegenheitsstempel", the German postal collector's guide to the special postal cancellations used in Germany from early twentieth Century to the late forties and early fifties.
