GET TO KNOW GERMANY
THE FIRST HINDENBURG SERIES
P221 / 66
The First Hindenburg 'Get to Know Germany' series appeared in early 1933 and are collectively refered to as P221. This series comprises a total of 78 different cards, 69 of them have the heading 'Lernt Deutschland Kennen!' and the remaining 9 have either 'Besucht das Grenzland' (1 example), 'Besucht das schöne Schlesien' (5 examples) or 'Pruβische Staatsbader' (3 examples).
Cards of the first Hindenburg series are easily identified by the elongated tail on the 'e' of 'Postkarte'. Later issues do not have such an elongated 'e'.
The inscription below the image reads "Besucht das Gicht Bad Salzschlirf in Hessen-Nassau, 250 m ü. M."
'Visit for Gout, Bad Salzschlirf in Hesse-Nassau, 250 m above sea level'

POSTALLY USED
The following postally used example was cancelled in NÜRNBERG on 13th Aug 1933. This example has a frequently seen slogan cancellation inscibed "JEDER | Volksgenosse | Rundfunkhörer" - 'Everyone should listen to the radio'The following card was cancelled in BERLIN-CHARLOTTENBURG on 24th Jun 1933 and was addressed to a doctor in BAMBERG. This example also has a common slogan cancellation, this one inscribed "Bekämpft die Arbeitsnot, kauft Deutsche Waren!" - 'Fight the labour shortage, buy only German goods'.
The message on the reverse-side appears to be a communication between two lawyers and translates as "In the case of Frey against Lauterbach, the plea of lack of jurisdiction was heard today. The opposing representative offered to present the plaintiff's order form, signed by the defendant, within 10 days at the agreed place. The decision will be made on 6th Jul based on the documents that you sent me. I assume that the alleged order form does not exist, if that is not the case I would like more information."
