THIRD EBERT SERIES
P189 / 59

The third Ebert series of postcards appeared in 1930 and are refered to as P189 in the Michel series. This series comprises a total of 61 different cards. Cards of the third Ebert series differ from the first and second series by:

(1) The picture of the scene is now a photograph rather than a line drawing and
(2) There is a brief description of the scene beneath the photograph
(3) There is still no 'Lernt Deutschland Kennen!' title.

P189 / 59 features the town of Wittlich.

The inscription below the image reads "Wittlich, der Schlüssel zur Mosel und Eifel" - 'Wittlich, the key to the Moselle and Eifel'

1. The following P189 / 59 was posted in KOLN and destined for the town of AUSSIG in the Sudetenland. The required postage was 10 Rpf so this example was underpaid by 2 Rpf. Upon arrival the recipient was required to pay the balance, hence the Czechoslovakian postage paid stamp just below the image.
