BATTLE OF THE NATIONS MONUMENT PP27-C-207 (18th Oct 1913)
This series of 3 postcards was published to commemorate the Battle of Nations Monument in Leipzig on 18th Oct 1913. These cards are inscribed "1813 - 1913 DAS VOLKERSCHLACHTDENKMAL ZU LEIPZIG" - '1813 - 1913 THE PEOPLE'S BATTLE MONUMENT IN LEIPZIG' along with an image of the Monument.
The reverse side of the card is also inscribed, this time along the top edge with "Offizielle Postkarte zur Weihe des Volkerschlacht Denkmals am 18. Oktober 1913." - 'Offizielle Postkarte zur Weihe des Volkerschlacht Denkmals am 18. Oktober 1913'.
The lower left-hand side is inscribed "Mit Genehmigung des Deutschen Patriotenbundes. Verlag: Karl Fickenscher, Leipzig.--- Druck: Louis Glaser, Leipzig" - 'With the approval of the German Patriot Association. Publisher: Karl Fickenscher, Leipzig .--- Printed by: Louis Glaser, Leipzig'.
SONDERSTEMPEL: There was a special cancel used inscribed "LEIPZIG | WEIHE DES | VÖLKERSCHLACHT- | DENKMAL"

This example from my collection was cancelled at the ceremony with a special machine cancel which features an image of the memorial and the text "LEIPZIG | 18.10.1913. | WEIHE DES | VÖLKERSCHLACHT | DENKMAL"

The third card in the series differs from the second card above, in that the cauldrons full of fire either side of the card, have been replaced by stone figures holding long swords.
