BACKGROUND: Issued 1st Apr 1900. This replycard was published due to a reduction in the local postal rate. The lowering of the local postage was due to the closure of the private city post offices, which were operated until 31st Mar 1900, by the Deutsche Reichspost.
This replycard has a print date control code only on the message (F) portion, there is no code on the answer (A) portion. There are two main versions of this replycard:
P41-I: with a Type I Wohnung type
P41-II: with a Type 'II' Wohnung type.
ABOVE LEFT: Wohnung Type I: two ears on the circle of the 'g', left arm of 'W' curves to the right
ABOVE RIGHT: Wohnung Type II: one thicker ear on the circle of the 'g', left arm of 'W' does not curve
Valid print control dates:
P41-I: 599--, 699-, 699--, 799- and 899--
P41-II: 599--, 699-, 699--, 799-, 899-, 899-- and 300--

There were several P41 postcards that were overprinted by private companies and below are some examples of what was produced.
1. Walter & Lachnit, Berlin N.20. This private printing advertises the company's range of inks and other stationary items for office workers.
