BACKGROUND: This was the first stamp in a series of six that was issued in May 1944. This was a re-issue of the 1941 Comrades of the German Reichs Post stamps, Mi773 through Mi778, but with different colours and values. See also the 1939 version of this stamp issue. These stamps were also designed by von Axster-Heudtlass and were printed by the Vienna State Printing Works
