PERMISSION STAMP for FELDPOST
(PACKAGES UP TO 2Kg)

BACKGROUND: Issued: 24th Nov 1944. The design is the same as that of Michel 795 from 1941 with an overprinted "FELDPOST 2kg" and it was printed at the Berlin State Printing works.

The main purpose of this stamp was for family members of soldiers serving on the Eastern front to send parcels of warm winter clothing from Germany to their relatives fighting at the front. The stamp was only provided to eligible soldiers and was not available to collectors.

There is only one major variation, Mi 3 Pa on glued paper web. Double and inverted overprints are most likely forgeries and not genuine items.
