The creation of a National Assembly was the idea of the majority Social Democrats who proposed that the assembly be created to determine the future form of the German government following her loss at the end of the First World War.
Michel 107 was the first in a set of four stamps issued to commemorate the opening of the New National Assembly in Weimar. The stamp was designed by Hugo Frank.
