REICHSPARTEITAG
(NAZI PART RALLY)
The Reich's Party Convention Rally, Reichsparteitag or Nurnberg Rallies, as they are better known in English, were the annual celebration and propaganda show piece for the Nazi Party. In the early years (1923 to 1929) it was held on a somewhat ad-hoc basis (money permitting). However in 1933 it became a permanent fixture of the Nazi calendar.
From 1927 onwards all of the rallies were held in Nuremberg, chosen for it's geographical location at the centre of the Reich. The Nazi base was also strong in the city and the local organiser, Julius Streicher, had powerful connections to the local Franconian police force who were also sympathetic to the Nazi cause.

EIGHTH NAZI PARTY RALLY - NÜRNBERG
"THE RALLY OF HONOUR"
(8th/14th Sep 1936)

SPECIAL SLOGAN CANCEL:

OFFICIAL POSTCARD #1
There were two official postcards issued to commemorate the 1936 Nazi Party rally in Nürnberg and both were designed by Richard Klein and published by Verlag Franz Eher of Munich. The first card (below) follows a sequence of party rally official postcards that all have a striking red background. The first of these postcards was published in 1935 and the last in 1938. This example features three knights guarding a column upon the top of which stands a Nazi Swastika and wreath being held by an eagle with out-stretched wings. The inscription simply states "Reichsparteitag | 1936 | Nürnberg".These two cards, both from my collection, bear the special slogan cancel used to commemorate the rally in the city of Nürnberg.

OFFICIAL POSTCARD #2
The following postcard was the second official postcard, again the work of Verlag Franz Eher and Prof Klein. This design also features a column upon which there is a Nazi Swastika, a wreath, and an eagle with out-stretched wings. The inscription is also the same as on the previous card. However, now instead of knights, the city of Nürnburg is silhouetted in the background. Like the postcards above this one also features the special cancellation used in Nürnberg.

VERLAG PAUL F. WEBER, Leipzig

VERLAG E. WIRTHMANN, Nürnberg
Verlag E. Wirthmann published a card featuring an aerial view of the City of Nürnberg. There is an inscription in red lettering "Die Stadt Der Reichsparteitag". Below this is the word "Nürnberg" and either side of that is a silver overprint which has obscured the '1935' date, indicating this was a way of using up old card stock that had been printed for the 1935 rally.
ANSICHTSKARTENVERLAG DEMARTIN
The following postcard was issued by Verlag Demartin of Nürnberg, and depicts a view of Nürnberg Castle from the west. This example also has the special slogan cancel that was available during the rally.

OTHER PUBLISHERS
As well as the cards already discussed there were yet more cards published by smaller companies, everyone it seems wanted a peice of the action.
