GERMAN HARVEST THANKSGIVING

BACKGROUND: Featuring a peasant woman during the harvest, this card was published to commemorate Thanksgiving on 1st Oct 1933. Although Harvest Thanksgiving festivals were held all over Germany, the one held in the town of BÜCKEBERG was the largest and most important of all the celebrations.

SPECIAL CANCELLATION: The example below features the special slogan cancellation that was used in BÜCKEBURG on 1st Oct 1933.

In addition to the colourful card above there was another "Einzige offizielle Erntedanktag-Postkarte" - 'Only official Thanksgiving postcard', which can be seen below. This example also has the official slogan cancellation used to promote this special day
