5Rpf HINDENBURG MEDALLION STAMP
Issued 1933. Broad graduation (three lines) down the centre. This card is the same as P216 above with the only difference being in the height of the sender section. For P217 the five-line sender's note has a height of 24.5mm, whereas P216 it is only 21mm high. The earliest known usage date for P217 is 3rd Mar 1933. There are two variations of P217: Type 'I' has a straight edge whilst Type 'II' has a serrated edge.
As well as the official card there were a number of official cards with additional private printing.
