P115
POSTCARD
GERMAN NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
(10 Pf - Red)
BACKGROUND: Issued 1st Jul 1919, this official postcard was used to commemorate the establishment of the German National Assembly in Weimar. The postcard measures 140 x 90mm and features a pre-printed version of the 1919, Michel 107 stamp, issued to commemorate the opening of the new German National Assembly. In addition to this postcard there was a set of official stamps released to coincide with the event.
This was the only official postcard to have this 10 Pf pre-printed stamp.
This card was only permitted for use inside Germany unless additional postage was applied. However there are examples of this card being used outside of Germany without additional postage, which was an error by the postal authorities.
There are at least 30 official P115 postcards with additional private printing.
Here are some duplicates from my collection.
SPECIAL CANCEL: There were three special cancels related to the event:
1. Inscribed "WEIMAR. National/Versammlung" used from 19th Jan until 21st Aug 1919.
2. Inscribed "WEIMAR. Nation. Vers., LUFTPOST" used from 20th Mar until 11th Aug 1919.
3. Inscribed "BERLIN NW. NATIONAL-VERSAMMLUNG" used from 3rd Oct 1919 until 12th Jun 1920. This particular special cancel is more difficult to find than the other two.

ABOVE: Cancel #3 - BERLIN NW
