L. C. OETKER

This private postcard has a pre-printed 3Pf Germania "DEUTSCHES REICH" stamp. The card is addressed to a preservatives / jam manufacturer named "L. C. OETKER | Fabrik feinster Marmeladen | Bahrenfeld".

Louis Carl Oetker opened a pastry shop in Altona in 1870 which produced marzipan figures. Following his death in 1884 he was succeeded by his nephew Albert Oetker who grew the comapny into the world's largest steam marzipan factory. The company produced a 30th Anniversary booklet commemorating the company at the start of the twentieth century and then went on to produce jams and preservatives.

The reverse of this card was used by customers to send in their orders for the companies products.
