BACKGROUND: This was the fourth stamp in a series of nine semi-postal stamps that was designed by Prof Spiegel and issued to raise funds for the 1934 Winter Relief Charity drive. This stamp features a Miner and cost 10Rpf (with 4Rpf being a donation to the charity). A related official postcard, featuring a stamp not in this series was also issued.
