BACKGROUND: P209 was issued in 1929 to raise funds for the "Deutsche Nothilfe" charity. This card is similar to the 1928, P208, Deutsche Nothilfe card and features a different 8 Rpf Coat of Arms pre-printed stamp. The inscription at the bottom of the card reads "Schafft frohe, Kräffige Jugend!" - "Create happy, strong Children".

An estimated 1,465,030 cards were sold and the cards were valid for use until 30th Jun 1930.

In addition to the official card there were a number of cards with various private printings.

SPECIAL SLOGAN CANCELS

1. The following card was cancelled in PRITZWALK in BRANDENBURG, north eastern Germany, on 11th Jan 1930 and was destined for PERLEBERG, also located in BRANDENBURG. The special handstamp on this example is inscribed "WELTBEKANNTE | UNIFORM | TUCHE" - 'WORLD FAMOUS | UNIFORM | CLOTH', which was used every year from 1928 until 1937. In 1937 a second similar handstamp was used every year until 1943 and these were the only two special hanstamps used in PRITZWALK during the Weimar and Nazi years.

2. The following domestically used P209 was sent from DRESDEN on 11th Feb 1930 and features a special cancellation used for the DRESDEN HYGIENE EXHIBITION

3. Posted in WURZBURG on 9th Nov 1929 this card was sent to an address in BISCHBRUNN, Lower Frankonia.
